Texas and Pacific Railroad roundhouse on Cotton Street, Longview. (Large View)

Operated by the Longview and Junction Railway Company, Longview’s streetcar system ran from the Uptown Depot to the Junction Depot, a total of .63 of one mile. Powered by mules from 1883, the system was electrified in 1912 and continued operating until 1920. Pictured is driver Issac Smith. (Large View)

 

Longview Volunteer Fire Company was organized in 1885. Fire Station was located on Tyler Street near Fredonia Street and housed City Hall offices upstairs. (Large View)

The Brown-B irdsong Home, 104 West Whaley Street in Longview, built in 1879 by Reverend B. W. Brown. As a member of the Texas Legislature, Brown helped create Gregg County in 1873. The home was purchased by the Lawrence Birdsong family in the early 1910s. (Large View)
